Citizen or No? Feedback Friday

I listened to Donald Trump's interview with Meridith Vieira yesterday morning where he voiced concerns about President Obama's citizenship. This debate began years ago and has never died down.

Since I haven't stirred the pot here on Feedback Friday lately, I figured I pose the question to you folks to hash out!

It's Feedback Friday...

Do you believe President Obama was born in the United States?

  1. Morning Jen,
Did a little research...I found this interesting:

    and this

    http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

    This is enough for me.

I am more concerned about the mexican woman who is 9 months pregnant..swims across the Rio Grande walks into a McAllen, TX hospital only to give birth curtesy of US taxpayers. This child is now a US citizen and may someday be a US President...oh and by the way, this child is considered a Mexican citizen by the Mexican Government.

WTH.....Something very wrong with that picture.

Why do we continue to give something so very precious away so easily?

  2. Given the massive number of people who have a concern, and the outright refusal to show rock solid proof...he's implying deceit. IS he hiding something? I don't know...I just know that this wouldn't be an issue if he and his staff didn't WANT it to be.

  3. Me again Jen,
Just watched that interview a couple more times and I am wondering what exactly have Trumps 'investigators' found. Why won't he share that info. If he is saving it for election ammo, It shows me he is more concerned with himself and his political goals than the American public.
I hate when folks say the 'know' something about someone else, but won't tell you.

    Just wondering...

  4. In my opinion he's probably a citizen.

However, I can tell you with certainty that he has very bad handlers.

For example, no politician likes disclosing their tax forms - but most do. Sometimes reluctantly, after the other side has their way with the story. Ultimately, they produce the papers and the story dies.

    The "Natural Born" issue?
The story doesn't die because he simply won't produce the paper.

Now, we can argue all day about whether we should be questioning it. But, it's a story. There are questions. Just produce the paper and get it over with...

  5. It's a moot point. http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

I agree with Krista's quote. As for Trump, does anyone, ANYONE, really take him serious? It seems to me the Republican party can't come up with a single viable candidate.

  6. If there was nothing to hide, this wouldn't be an issue.

  7. I know my grandparents (with foreign names, but born in America)would get very offended if someone asked if they were born here. They were just insulted by the inquiry when they could easily prove that they indeed were born on American soil. I'm just sayin'...he's been in the public eye for years and now there's an inquiry? Shouldn't this have come up during the first election? Wait without a Monica Lewinski or Whitewater scandal I guess they have to come up with something. Ooh wait a minute...the President has a friend who solicited a prostitute. And he smokes and inhales. I hate this part of politics...I'm just sayin'. I hope he's not covering something up.

  8. Oops...I'm an idiot and should spend more time watching the news instead of burying my head in blogs about crafts, cooking and home decorating...this already came up in 2007-08...there is a birth certificate on file in Hawaii...Only the people who have been offspring of interracial/international parent(s) could know how the President feels about this inquiry. It was really hard on my grandparents to try to "live the American dream" with names such as they had. I know my great-grandfather dropped one of his last names due to controversy during one of the World Wars.

  9. Donald Trump is an idiot. This issue has already been vetted. If anyone thinks the man could have been elected if there was really any question hasn't been paying attention.

  10. I can't believe this continues to be an issue. I think that you could easily substitute 'opposing parties' or 'candidates' for the word 'governments' in the great quote Krista shared
“In order to rally people, governments need enemies. They want us to be afraid, to hate, so we will rally behind them. And if they do not have a real enemy, they will invent one in order to mobilize us.” -Thich Nhat Hanh
As to Trump being a viable candidate, he certainly has the money and recognition factor to campaign. I can't imagine he would pass the scrutiny that candidates are under these days, but who knows?

  11. I'm with the "if you have nothing to hide, hide nothing"
Squash the scrutiny and show it so people can move on. I hate the Rep. and the Dems. doing this over everything. If they all did what was best for the country as a whole, not for them, their agenda, or their big donators agendas-we'd have a different country. Politicians are so backwards and selfish and use so much rhetoric its amazing anyone believes anything they say anymore. They need to walk the talk and take care of business and we, as American citizens need to vote and stay aware of our sens. reps. voting records and see that they really are voting on our behalf, and not their own.
Sorry-I'm a little patriotic and a lot irked at how things are being governed! So, paraphrasing Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire " Show me the birth certificate!"

  12. I think the whole thing is ridiculous. This issue came up during the last election and it was settled. If his last name was Smith, would the question even be asked? Have we asked previous presidents to show us their birth certificates (I'm actually curious on that one. But I would guess we haven't)?

  13. Can I just say that it seems so silly to me that this is the issue Donald Trump is hounding on...he was on The View a week or so ago and going on and on about it...he has had several other interviews where it's the only issue he wants to attack Pres. Obama on...including the one with Merideth...if he's trying to discredit our President maybe he should go after all the other things Obama promised to "change"...but things seem to only be getting worse. Donald Trump drives me freakin' crazy...I'm a republican and so help me if he runs for President, I may just have to switch sides:) I just can't even take the man seriously...he is a total tool.

  14. Trump makes the point that none of Obama's relatives seem to know which hospital in Hawaii he was born....that makes me wonder???

  15. This fight is disgusting. Let's keep letting the media focus on non-issues and disgusting women-haters like Donald Trump when there are real problems in this country; and real people that could use our help and our compassion. This country is strong because of the immigrant population that has built it. 99.9% of the illegal immigrants are hard working people trying to scrape together a better existence for their families just like our predecessors. These people have much more in common with our great-great grandparents than we do.

My mother is from England. I wonder why no one has ever told her that she needs to go back where she came from and stop taking away American jobs?

  16. I went online to see the words used in the Constitution ...it says " No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; ..."

No one disputes that his mother was a US citizen and whether he was born in Hawaii, Kenya or on Mars...Pres. Obama derives his US citizenship from her.
